What to Expect?

When you first visit Finchley Hearing, we will take the time to understand who you are and what your needs are.  You will receive an intake form in advance of your first appointment, which we strongly recommend completing and sending back to us prior to your visit.  The form will provide us with information on your medical history, along with your concerns regarding your ears and hearing.

Your first appointment will typically consist of an initial consultation along with a complete hearing assessment.  We encourage and recommend that you attend this session with someone with whom you communicate with regularly, such as a close friend or family member, as this can help provide a more complete picture of the kinds of challenges you may experience.

Following your hearing assessment, we will review and explain all of the results to you.  We will then provide a recommendation to you on what can be done next, taking into account the concerns you may have expressed during the consultation.  Whatever you decide regarding our recommendations, we will be there to support you, and ensure that you receive the best care possible.

If hearing aids, for example, are recommended, and you choose to go ahead with this recommendation, we will then schedule a hearing aid fitting appointment.  At the fitting, we will run a few tests and measurements to accurately prescribe the hearing aids for your ears, and to ensure they are working at their best.  We will show you everything you need to know about your hearing aids, and make sure you feel comfortable and confident with it all.

One week after the fitting, we will give you a ring to make sure everything has started on the right foot.  We will also set-up a further follow-up appointment to ensure all is going smoothly, address any questions that you may have, and see if your hearing and communication needs have been met.

Once we are all satisfied that everything is going as it should with your new hearing aids, we recommend that you return to see us once every six months to check-in and service your hearing aids.  We will also recheck your hearing on an annual basis and can adjust your hearing aid prescription as required.  These appointments are currently available to you at no additional charge for a full five years after receiving your hearing aids, as part of our Aftercare & Support Plan.  In between these routine appointments, if you ever have any questions or concerns, you are always welcome to book in another visit.
